Halloween 2012

Tonight was not a great night for trick-or-treating; it was cold and rainy!  We ventured out to the neighbors that we know and they filled the kids' bags with candy since our kids were probably the only ones they would see tonight.  Then we drove over to Jeff and Renee's house so that the cousins and friends could trick-or-treat together.  We made it up and down their street and called it a night.

Happy Halloween from the Teacher, Luke Skywalker and the Dragon/Dinosaur!

Our cousins, the clown and the princess

Strawberry Shortcake and Cherry Jam joined us too!

Soccer Star!

Today was Miriam's last soccer game of the season, and she had a great final game!  She scored 3 goals and we were very proud of how hard she played.  At the end of the game the coach gave all the  kids their medals.

It was really fun that Miriam and Tyler could play together this season!

These cousins love each other!

Pumpkin Carving!

This afternoon we (ok, Casey) carved the pumpkins that the kids picked out yesterday at Post Family Farm.  They drew the faces and he carved them.  They also helped clean out the insides and we roasted the seeds.  Yum!

Watch out for the scary guy with the knife!

Miriam looks scared, but that face is actually due to the fact that she thought she was going to drop her pumpkin.

Post Family Farm

We spent this afternoon at Post Family Farm in Hudsonville.  This is one of our favorite fall outing spots, and Miriam and I went there on a field trip a few weeks ago.

We had fun enjoying the play area and zip line, pumpkin train, rope swing, pedal bikes, hayride, corn maze, picking out pumpkins, and looking at the animals.  When we were finished we got their declicious pumpkin donuts and apple cider to go and took it to Casey's parents to share with them.  Here are some pictures of our fun fall afternoon!

Foot Frolic Frenzy

Today was the kids' annual fundraising lap-a-thon at school, the Foot Frolic Frenzy.  This is the only fundraiser they do each year, which is really nice.  It's good for the kids to feel like they're doing something to "earn" the donations that people give, and of course they're getting exercise!  It was a cool day, but also nice and sunny.  Esther and Peter each ran 10 laps, which was 2-1/2 miles!  Miriam ran smaller laps around the tennis court with her preschool class, and she did a great job too.
