Dore the Easter Bunny

Our neighbor Dore is so sweet and thoughtful. She often brings us treats and goodies, especially around holidays. Last year she was the Easter Bunny and hid eggs in our yard for the kids to find.

A few weeks ago she said she wanted to do it again, so the other night we planned to try for this morning. We knew there was snow in the forecast, but certainly weren't expecting this much! What a difference from last year. Dore really, really hates cold, snow, and winter, so for her to still come over and put the eggs in our yard means a lot! We got the kids bundled up, and out they went to search. They found all the eggs, as well as the packages that were left on the front porch and were SO excited! Unfortunately, they didn't find the earring that Dore lost while she was hiding the eggs. Maybe it will show up when the snow melts.

After opening everything, Esther said she wanted to make a thank-you card for the Easter Bunny, so she got right to work. After lunch Casey said he would put the card in the mail (take it to Dore's house) for Esther. Here is the conversation that ensued...

Esther: "But, I don't think the Easter Bunny is real!"
Mom: "Really? Who do you think the Easter Bunny is?"
Esther: "I think it's like a pretend bunny."
Mom: "Do you mean a person dressed up like a bunny?"
Esther: "Yeah!"
Mom: "Well, who do you think dressed up like a bunny and delivered all that stuff for you?"
Esther: "Hmmm... maybe Dore?"

Guess we can't fool her anymore, can we? Oh well, it was still fun!

Butterflies, Take 2

Casey had the day off today, so we decided to go see the butterflies at Meijer Gardens again. Peter was more comfortable this time since he knew what to expect. Of course they wanted to play outside even though it was COLD, so Casey sat inside with Miriam while the kids and I bundled up and ran around the treehouse for a little while. Then we discovered something we missed on last week's trip with my Dad. They actually had a bunch of indoor butterfly activities at the building near the children's garden! We spent a while in there doing puzzles, building a butterfly and dressing up as butterflies. It was a fun way to spend the morning!

Cold, Snowy, Spring Day

How do you spend a snowy spring day which has followed a night of little sleep?

By watching Silly Songs with Larry! (Shhhh.....don't tell Mommy the TV was on.)

Mine and Daddy's Special Date

We had a special, special, special date and Daddy said we needed to do some working fixing jobs. We fixed and fixed until our work was done.

We fixed a barn block and a chair from the basement.

We fixed the kitchen chairs.....they were from Mommy and Daddy's kitchen.

Mommy will be so happy that the work is done.

Butterflies!

My Dad is back home from Florida for a few days, so this morning he went with us to the Meijer Gardens for our first trip of the year. The kids were very excited to go see the butterflies with Grandpa! Peter was a little unsure about all the fluttering going on around him at first, but he got used to it. Esther loved the butterflies and the beautiful flowers. Miriam was just along for the ride. We also went outside to explore the treehouse and sensory garden for a while. We can't wait until it really warms up so we can play in the sand and water again!

This kid LOVES his donut...

Girls' Outing (Posted by Esther)

Today Mommy and I went out on a silly date with our friends. First we went to the show about Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We saw lots of musical instruments (the G.R. Symphony) and the bear sat on a little chair, but it was too small. So he tried a bench, but it was too tall. Then he tried the black chair. It was just right. Then the bear played something (a contrabassoon). It wasn't a real bear; it was a guy dressed up as a bear. He was sure silly! He thought it was Halloween, but it wasn't Halloween, and I told Anna all about it.
We went out for lunch after that to Russ'. I ate chicken, french fries and a peach. It was yummy. It was a fun day, but part of it was silly, but it was sure, sure fun!

3 Months Old!

Wow, the last 3 months have flown by. Our precious Miriam is still laid back, sweet, and a joy to have in our family. She wakes up in the morning with a smile, and continues to be an easy baby. She is still not gaining weight very quickly, so she is our "little peanut," but she continues to steadily add on ounces. She is still very much adored by her big sister and brother who snuggle her, give her a pacifier, "baby talk" to her, and try to make her smile!
