More Funny Esther Quotes
Last night we were having pancakes for dinner and I was making them in the shape of the kids' initials. Then I was making some other random shapes, and Peter picked one up and said it looked like an 'L'. Esther commented, "If Peter's name was Pleter, it would have an 'L' in it!"
Last week she told my mom this procedure for how to put your shoes on in the dark (not sure why you would be doing this or why she was even thinking about why someone would need to do this):
"What you do is try putting one of the shoes on one of your feet. If it feels funny, then it must be the wrong one, so then you put it on the other foot. If it feels right, then you have it on the right foot. Then you put the other shoe on the other foot!"
That's some good common sense logic, straight from the mouth of a 4-year-old.

A Bride, a Lion and two Pumpkins
We had a fun halloween night. We ate an early dinner and then walked down the street to see a few of our neighbors. Then we dropped the Pumpkin off at Grandpa and Grandma W's and took the Bride and the Lion over to Calvin to their Light in the Night festivities.
We met some friends there and enjoyed trick-or-treating and games in several of the apartment buildings. It's fun to see the elaborate decorations and costumes that many of the college students create.

After we got home, Grandpa and Grandma K, Uncle Jeff and Aunt Renee, and Pumpkin Tyler came over for a bit.
The kids had a good time, but they were definitely tired and fell asleep very quickly!

Three Pumpkins
Casey's mom bought this pumpkin costume on clearance one year for about $3. Since all three kids have now worn it, we figure a buck a year is a pretty good deal for a costume. I thought it would be fun to compare how all the kids looked as pumpkins. You can certainly tell that they are siblings!

Just Like Daddy

Whenever Peter sees Daddy wearing a baseball hat he wants to wear his hat. He's had a baseball hat for a couple years that is really getting too tight. I think the fact that there are marks embedded in his forehead when he takes it off is a sign that he should probably be moving on to a bigger size.
Peter and Daddy did a few errands today since Daddy had the day off from work. One of their stops was at the Calvin Bookstore, where they made this purchase. Their hats are the same, but it's pretty clear that Daddy's is faded and worn afer a few years of use. Peter is very proud of his new hat!

Welcome Home Daddy!
Casey flew back from Albuquerque today after being gone on a work trip for 5 days. Esther made a banner for him the other day and the kids were so cute holding it up at the airport while we waited for Daddy. I was going to take a picture of them and a nice man (who of course was smiling at how adorable the kids were) thought we should all be in the picture and offered to take it.
When Daddy appeared, Peter quickly dropped the banner and ran to him. They were very excited about the bears that Daddy brought back for them and are currently snuggling them in their beds. We're very glad to have Daddy back home!

Polly Esther
Esther's a funny girl. She regularly cracks us up with the stuff she says, especially the random and obscure things she remembers and notices. Here are a few examples:
The other night I was getting Miriam ready for bed and Esther was in her room getting her pajamas on. She came running into Miriam's room excitedly and said, "Mommy, look at this! It's my name, except without the H!" She was holding her pajama pants and proceeded to show me the tag which said "polyester." Why she was reading the tag of her pj pants, I have no idea.
Tonight after dinner she was picking out a Bible story to read for devotions. She was looking for a specific one about Adam and Eve. I pulled one out and asked, "Is this the one you're looking for?" She replied, "Yes, I LOVE that story!" I was a little concerned but also totally laughing... the title is A Very Sad Day: The Story of Adam and Eve's Disobedience. Not really sure what to think about that.
After dinner we were playing in the basement and she was pretending to be a plumber who was coming to fix my sink on the Little Tikes workbench we have. She asked me if my boys had been playing with their matchbox cars and dropped one down in the sink. This refers back to a story from our friends when one of their boys dropped a matchbox car in the kitchen sink. It really messed up their garbage disposal after the mom turned it out without knowing the car was in there. This must have happened close to a year ago, and I don't think we've discussed it since, but for some reason she remembered it.

Green or Red???
So, that was the question I was asked in Albuquerque tonight when I ordered dinner. Keep in mind that I am a very boring Dutch boy when it comes to food. Which means I don't do spicy.
However, I thought I should try some Enchiladas tonight for dinner...I am out West after all. So, I ordered them and the waitress asked me "green or red?" Huh? What does that mean? Of course, I couldn't ask that, I might sound stupid. So, I picked a color....I've always liked green.
Uh, yeah....wrong color....apparently it has something to do with the spice level of the salsa or chilli....I have no taste buds left. But my sinuses are clear!
